How will we find our next Lead Pastor?

Parkview elders have contracted with a national search firm named Shepherd’s Staff to identify, vet and present potential candidates to interview for the position.

When is this transition intended to take place?

January 2026 is the target date. But because God’s timing doesn’t always match ours, Pastor Ray is committed to serving as Lead Pastor until the right person is identified.

What is a Pastor Emeritus?

Our term emeritus comes from the Latin verb emereri, meaning “to serve out one’s term.” It was originally used to describe soldiers who had completed their tour of duty. Today, the term is used by organizations and churches as an honorary title bestowed on someone in recognition of distinguished service. In many cases, the Pastor Emeritus continues to serve in their church, often through teaching, writing, or mentoring.

What role does the congregation play in this process?

While Parkview elders are charged with the responsibility of identifying the next Lead Pastor, the final step in the process is to present an elder endorsed candidate to the church for affirmation.

What is Ray hoping to do more or less of?

Ray hopes to continue teaching / speaking but also to pursue other interests such as writing and peace-making – not to mention spending more time with family.

What does this mean for Parkview’s future?

The work of God is never dependent on one individual. As a church we remain fully committed to our mission of teaching and following the way of Jesus in and for the sake of our world. As a faith community, we will continue to embrace a Christianity that values Relationship over Religion, Grace over Guilt, Compassion over Complacency, Unity over Uniformity, and Curiosity over Certainty.

How can we be praying?

We encourage you to pray with gratitude for the three decades of leadership Pastor Ray has provided our church and pray hopeful anticipation of what God is going to do in his life and the life of Parkview.

Pray for our elders, staff and congregation as we journey together through this leadership transition.

Pray for God’s peace and a unity of Spirit as we seek divine guidance.

Pray with faith and trust in God’s wisdom and promised provision.

Pray for Parkview’s continued health, growth, and commitment to living out the way of Jesus in and for our community and world.
